Gone are the days where people used simple and crude ways to pass messages. The early man may have been accustomed to letters and trips to the post office, but today’s man is very different. Technology has swooped in and taken control of all our communication services! Here are the newsletters for musicians and bands or labels.

As more and more people are becoming attached to their smart phones it is a great opportunity to use this to your advantage. Email marketing is the best tool to do this. As the name suggests, it simply means that you get a way to communicate with your fans through email. Don’t discard it yet; because it’s super powerful!

First and foremost, email marketing provides a way to market and sell and promote your music.

As a musician, how cool is that? You have a list of email addresses ready to hear what you have to say whether it’s an announcement of a new album or tickets to an event. In point of fact, mailing lists have proven to be one of the main ways to bring in sales. Of course, given the fact that loyal fans are eager to be the first to hear your new music, it is more likely that an email delivered straight to their inboxes will have a heavy influence in buying your music. Studies have proven that people are more likely to pay or buy something if they are in a mailing list related to it. So your fans will be more than excited to get your next album that you talked about in the newsletter. Send your first newsletter today with Artglider Mail Engineer!

Having contacts of your fans puts you in the driver’s seat.

Another cool thing about email marketing / sending newsletters is that the musician or band owns the list of email addresses. Unlike social media, email marketing ensures that you have the control over your data. The data collected on the mailing list are yours and therefore they are safe with you. Besides, social media profiles show your updates to a limited number of people therefore in reality it never maximizes your potential to reach all your fans.

You can get the data work for you.

Now since you know that email marketing makes you own the list of your fans, how can you use this data? Email marketing ensures that you can analyze this data to know your market. For example, if most of your fans are from a specific region, you can use this data to organize shows and road tours, giving them a chance to see you live in action! This is a great way to grow. All the studies show that newsletters increase fan engagement. You can track what links are getting clicked, what are your fans interested in. It is a tool for turning people who like your music into fans.

Furthermore, owning the list provides a superb way to stay in touch with your fans.

Newsletters are very good for fan engagement. A musician knows that the fans are everything to him/her, therefore keeping in touch is surely a good way to converse with them. So if you have a mailing list, you are in control of your conversation with your fans. You can be able to remind him/her about the upcoming event in a nearby city, or about the cool new music you have. In short, once you have the mailing list, you can promote literally anything on your newsletter, with an assurance that it will get to your fans.

There are many other advantages of email marketing. As the popular saying goes, ‘seeing is believing.’ You will never know the sweet benefits unless you try it yourself. It will be great for your music career. Artglider, of course, has all the tools you need to start. It’s easy, just visit Artglider Mail Enginneer and sign up today.

Once your newsletter campaign has been sent, you can immediately access a campaign overview page which details in real time who is reading your email, clicking links, unsubscribing and much more.

Here’s how to view a live campaign.

Click the Campaigns tab on the left side of the Artglider Mail Engineer control panel.

In your list of campaigns, find a campaign that has been sent and click the VIEW button located towards the left of the page.

Clicking the view button takes you into the Campaign Overview page for a campaign. This page details exactly how well your campaign is performing and who is doing what.

Towards the top left of the screen you can see a graph that shows the first 48 hours of campaign performance. To the right you can see a pie chart that details the percentage splits between Opens, Bounces, Unsubscribes and Junk Reports, and below this you can see totals for emails sent, emails opened, links clicked, unsubscribers, bounces and junk reports.

You can also share your campaign to Facebook using the Share to Facebook link, as well as sharing the campaign as a link you can paste anywhere (Your website, blog, etc).

Here you can see the subscriber that opened your email and how many times, who clicked which links and how many times, who unsubscribed, and who bounced, and why.

Artglider helps you in the process of creating email campaigns for fans. You can send your newsletter to your subscribers and track the results by adding a campaign.

Here’s how.

Click the Campaigns tab on the left side of the Artglider Mail Enginner control panel.

Click either the “Start a new campaign” link on the left menu, or the big “Start a new Campaign” Button top right.

You will now be guided through the following simple five step campaign wizard.

1. Enter an email subject, a sender name and a sender email address. These details will be used on the emails that go out so make sure they are correct. Click continue when you are ready.

2. Select the newsletter you would like to send from the drop down list. If you haven’t added any newsletter yet you will be offered the chance to create one.

3. Next select the subscriber group(s) that you would like to send your email to. You can select more than one group by ticking the tick boxes on the left of the page next to each group. You can also Segment your groups using the “Filter” option at the top of the page. When you are finished selecting groups, press the continue button.

4. Step 4 allows you to review and confirm the details you have entered. Look over the details of your campaign and click the “Edit” Buttons next to anything you would like to change. Click the continue button at the bottom right of the screen to continue when you are happy with everything.

5. Enter a campaign start date and time, you can schedule up to 3 years into the future. This is important: If you haven’t chosen your time zone when you signed up, do it before you send the email. Your time zone might be different than default one. You can change your time zone in your profile “Overview” menu.

Then select the “Advanced options” tab if you would like to change any of the default sending options such as Daily Email reports sent to your email inbox, delete bounced emails, automatically copy bounced emails to another group (So you can retry them later) and automatically copy people who clicked links to another group.

When you are happy with everything, click the “Continue” button at the bottom right of the page to send your campaign.

Your campaign will now send when the start date and time is reached.

If you have scheduled your campaign to start in the future, you can edit your campaign where you can make changes or cancel the campaign.

3- Click on the “Advanced” tab at the top of the page, and then click “Code your own”.

4 – The editor will load. You can give your newsletter a friendly name, just for reference at the top left. A preview of the newsletter is available center left of the screen, and the HTML editor is located to the right…

5 – Type or paste your HTML code into the box on the left. As you type or paste code, the preview on the left will reflect your changes every 20 seconds.

6- If you would like to insert files or images into your code, select the file library box bottom right.

7- You can switch to Wysiwig Editor mode at any time by clicking “Wysiwig Editor” top right.

The basic editor is the perfect way to create stunning email campaigns from your browser with no HTML code skills required.

The editor enables you to simply drag and drop elements onto the page, edit them, style them and produce the email you need. We even make sure your newsletter is beautifully coded behind the scenes and works in all major email clients including mobile devices.

The editor auto-saves your work every 30 seconds.

Get started…

Click the Newsletters tab on the left hand side of the Control Panel.

Either click the ADD A NEW NEWSLETTER link on the left of the site, or click the big “Add a new newsletter” button on the top right.

Choose an initial template from one of the templates available.

The editor will load. You can give your newsletter a friendly name, just for reference at the top left. A preview of the newsletter is available center left of the screen, and the tool bar is located to the right…

You can add a new element to your newsletter by simply clicking on one of the options to the right, and dragging it onto the newsletter preview where you would like it to appear.

When you click on an element on the newsletter preview, options will appear to the right relating to the block you’ve selected. So if it’s a text block you will be able to edit the text, if its an image block you will be able to upload a new image, etc.

To adjust the colour scheme of your newsletter, click the STYLE tab at the top right of the page.

You can choose from one of the pre-defined colour scheme by simply clicking on them. Or you can click the EDIT button next to each to adjust the look and feel to your exact needs.

Once you have finished editing your newsletter, either click the “Finish Editing” button at the top right of the page to save your newsletter, or click the “Send” button to send it to your subscribers.

    Using HTML Code
If you are using an external HTML editor to design your newsletters, or just love coding your stuff from scratch our HTML editor gives you a beautiful interface with which to work. You can even toggle between Wysiwig mode and HTML editor mode.

Import from a File or Website
You can even upload an HTML file, or enter a website address and we will attempt to create a newsletter for you from the source.

Your button will be created and you are now able to customize the look and feel of the button. You can enter the title of your button, adjust the width, and adjust the look and feel of the button using the following options.

When you are happy with your button, click the SAVE button at the bottom right of the page.

You can now choose to re-edit your button with the “EDIT BUTTON” button at the top of the page.

There is also a section called “Put this button on your website”. All you need to do here is copy the HTML code out of the box, and paste it into your Website’s source code wherever you want it to appear.

Desing the popup form

You can now customize the look of the form that pops up when the button is clicked, and the data fields you would like to capture.

The first part of designing your form is the “Details” section.

Here you can enter a title for your form, some text that goes underneath the title, and the text that appears on your button.

Next is the “Design” section. Here you can adjust the width of your form as well as the colors, fonts, text sizes and much more.

Here you can add new fields from the list at the bottom of the page. You can also type a field name next to each field. You can tick to make the field required, or you can delete the field by clicking the trash can.

You can also re-order the fields by clicking and holding the “Drag” button on the left of each field, and dragging the fields around.

When you are happy with your form, click the SAVE button at the bottom right of the page.

Now we want to create a confirmation email that is sent to the user when they signup to your list via this form. Click the “Confirmation Email” link at the top of the page.

Click the EDIT button next to the email preview to edit the newsletter that is sent using the email designer. Once you are finished editing your email, click the “Confirmation Page” link at the top of the page.

This area enables you to design a landing page that your user is sent to once they have finished signing up to your list. Click the EDIT button to edit your form using the designer.

All you need to do here is copy the HTML code out of the box, and paste it into your website or blog, wherever you want it to appear.
